Eden Locke

Treves & Hyde

Leman Locke London

120 Allen Street

These practice based in New York founded by Matthew Grzywinski and Amador Pons reflect what is in my opinion the fresh contemporary interior design style. Fresh, fun and relying on the honesty of the materials.

Wolfgang Tillmans Hope for London

Yesterday the magazine ES from the Evening Standard dedicated a limited edition of front overs dedicated to the recent tragedies occurred in London... I picked Mr Tillmans one. I like his concept about hope and the city of London perfectly framed on an image going up the tube escalators. Perfect excuse to refresh and pic some of my favourite pieces of his work.

Alex Monroe Workshop

by DSDHA Architects

Beautiful concept for a facade on an existing building in South London. The new building has added 2 stories to the old construction bringing the vertical communications to the front facade. According to the architects "the metal moire screen offers tantalising glimpses of activities inside".

Disfrutar Restaurant

by El Equipo Creativo

During MIlan Design Week this Year I went to the celebration of FRAME 20th anniversary talk about he future of hospitality and had the chance to see El Equipo Creativo work in more depth, presented by Natali Canas del Pozo herself. Very inspiring work, but important an interesting creative process that comes from a very conceptual start in every project.

Fiona Lynch

WIlliamstown House

Anchovy restaurant
Smalls Wine Bar

Cannings Butchers
If there is a Australian style, in my opinion Fiona Lynch will be the perfect representative of it. Fresh, lay back, light and honest. It is not radical, but it is innovative in the use of materials but mostly and careful attention to details.

Herbert Bayer

Last week I went for the second time to see The Radical Eye: Modernist Photography from The Sir Elton John Collection astonishing  exhibition, where I could admire the original of one of my favourite photographs:

Herbert Bayer: Humanly Impossible

Enrolled in the early 1920s in a new school of design called the Bauhaus, Herbert Bayer helped shape its utopian ideal that ‘modern art and architecture must be responsive to the needs and influence of the modern industrial world and that good designs must pass the test of both aesthetic standards and sound engineering’. Inspired by various disciplines, he not only produced photography but also graphic works alongside architecture and furniture design. When he settled in Berlin, in 1928, Herbert Bayer opened a successful graphic design studio and soon took interest in photomontage using the technique for personal artistic projects but also his advertising commissions, thus establishing the photographic experimentation as a major commercial visual aesthetic in the 1930s. Alarmed by Germany’s political situation, he moved to New York in 1938 and once again became a recognized designer - photography being attached to the 1920s and 1930s in his practice. Herbert Bayer saw in photomontages the answer to imagination, a form of surrealist concept that denied clear meaning and contexts to the objects while the geometric lines of the Bauhaus aesthetic built experimental still lives.

Christian Halleröd

Last month as part of my late Xmas shopping I went to the Axel Arigato store in Soho, personally one of the best retail spaces in London ATM.
